our $2 bill may be worth a lot more than you think
The $2 bill, once considered unlucky, is gaining attention. As of 2023, there are 1.6 billion in circulation, though it’s still less common than other bills. First printed in 1862 with Hamilton’s portrait, it was redesigned in 1869 to feature Jefferson.
Some $2 bills, especially from 1862 to 1896, can be worth thousands. Uncirculated bills with red, brown, or blue seals can fetch up to $5,000, while circulated ones can be worth $1,100. Bills from 1917 to 1928 with red or blue seals are worth $50 to $1,000, depending on condition.
