Recently, viral videos have raised fears among women, claiming kidnappers are targeting them with tactics like leaving a water bottle on their car or marking homes with “1F” (one female). A new video shows a car with a wire attached to its door handle, suggesting a kidnapping attempt.
A man on TikTok explains this as an old trick used by abductors to delay victims. He advises not to touch the wire and seek help in crowded areas. However, experts say these fears are exaggerated. The “wire trick” first appeared in a 2015 Facebook post, and police have found no evidence of kidnappings related to it. The University of Toledo’s Human Trafficking Institute also called the claims “ridiculous.”
