Human remains were found in the car of Samantha Jean Hopper, who disappeared 23 years ago in Arkansas with her daughter, Courtney Holt. The vehicle was discovered by the nonprofit Adventures With Purpose in eight feet of water. Hopper was last seen on September 11, 1998, reportedly on her way to drop off Courtney before heading to a concert in Little Rock.
The remains will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for DNA analysis. The Pope County Sheriff’s Office expressed condolences to the families involved and noted the significance of resolving this long-standing case. Dezarea, Hopper’s daughter, shared that her mother was nine months pregnant at the time of her disappearance, and she found the discovery of their remains a “relief.”
