Biblical View on Age Differences in Marriage

Age gaps in relationships often spark debate today, but what does the Bible say about it? Scripture rarely highlights age as a factor in marriage, focusing instead on faith, character, and spiritual compatibility.
A notable example is Abraham and Sarah, who had a 10-year age difference—Abraham was 100, Sarah 90—when God promised them a son (Genesis 17:17). Their story emphasizes God’s covenant and the miraculous birth of Isaac, rather than the age gap, showing that age differences are not viewed as a moral or spiritual issue in biblical teaching.
In short, the Bible values shared faith and character over age in choosing a spouse.
