Former Capitol Police Chief Steven Sund slammed Nancy Pelosi after she criticized Trump’s recent National Guard activation in D.C. Sund said he requested Guard support on January 3, 2021, but was blocked by the House Sergeant at Arms and lacked authority to deploy them. His urgent requests during the January 6 riot were stalled for over an hour.
Pelosi had accused Trump of delaying Guard deployment, but Sund called for honesty about who had authority. Unreleased footage also shows Pelosi saying she wanted to “punch” Trump if he came to the Capitol that day.
