Michael Douglas reveals heartbreaking exit from acting

Michael Douglas, 80, has announced he’s stepping back from acting after nearly six decades, saying he doesn’t want to “drop dead on the set.” The two-time Oscar winner, known for classics like Wall Street, Fatal Attraction, and Marvel’s Ant-Man films, said he’s been intentionally off work since 2022 to enjoy life and focus on his family. While not officially retired, Douglas admits he’ll only return for something truly special. Reflecting on his career at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival, he also spoke about surviving stage IV cancer in 2010, calling it “not a holiday.” His next—and possibly final—film, Looking Through Water, will see him star alongside his son, Cameron.
