If you’ve ever noticed a weird green ring on your hard-boiled eggs, there’s actually a simple reason why, and I had NO idea

To boil perfect eggs without the green ring around the yolk, cook large eggs for 6–7 minutes (soft), 8–9 minutes (medium), or 10–12 minutes (hard). The green ring forms when overcooked eggs cause sulfur and iron to react. To prevent it, avoid overcooking, cool eggs quickly in ice water, and use eggs about a week old. Gentle boiling and quick cooling ensure tasty, visually appealing eggs every time.
