Missing Teen Discovered in Chimney Seven Years Later in Baffling Cold Case

When 18-year-old Joshua Maddux left home for a walk in Woodland Park in 2008, no one expected he would become the center of one of Colorado’s most disturbing mysteries.
Nearly seven years later, his mummified remains were discovered inside a cabin chimney less than a mile from his home. His clothes were neatly folded nearby, and the chimney had been blocked from the inside—details that immediately raised questions.
An autopsy found no signs of trauma or drugs. While authorities initially suggested an accidental death, conflicting evidence led the coroner to rule the cause as undetermined. Despite tips and theories, no arrests were made.
Joshua’s case remains unsolved, leaving his family and investigators with lingering doubts and unanswered questions.
