Deputy Terri Mashkow of the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office was fatally shot while serving an eviction notice in Vero Beach. Michael Halberstam allegedly opened fire, wounding Mashkow, her partner, and a locksmith before officers returned fire, critically injuring him.
