Sally Kirkland, the acclaimed Golden Globe-winning actress, has passed away at the age of 84. TMZ first reported her death, which came days after she was moved into hospice care in Palm Springs, California.
Kirkland had been diagnosed with dementia last year and faced serious health challenges, including life-threatening infections following a fall in her shower. Friends had recently launched a GoFundMe to support her urgent medical care.
A celebrated figure in film and theater, Kirkland trained at the Actors Studio and the American Academy of Dramatic Arts. She became a prominent presence in New York’s Off-Broadway and avant-garde scene in the 1960s, including time spent at Andy Warhol’s Factory.
