The city was left in shock Monday evening after 20-year-old Mariana Gómez was fatally struck by a stray bullet during a shooting on Fifth Street. What began as a normal evening turned chaotic when gunmen opened fire in a crowded commercial area, leaving two people dead.
Police say the shooting occurred around 5:30 p.m. when armed men targeted a local merchant. Mariana, reportedly on her way to submit a résumé, was caught in the crossfire and hit by a bullet. She was rushed to a nearby hospital but died shortly after arrival.
Authorities continue to investigate the attack as the community mourns the loss of an innocent young woman whose future was tragically cut short.
