San Juan de Miraflores, Lima — A massive fire erupted Saturday afternoon in the Pamplona Alta area, rapidly engulfing a dense cluster of improvised homes. Firefighters and local authorities rushed to contain the blaze as hundreds of residents were forced to flee.
Initial reports suggest that between several dozen and over 100 homes were affected. Many families have been left homeless and are now in urgent need of assistance.
Officials say the fire spread quickly due to the close-packed, flammable structures. Investigators believe the blaze may have started in a clandestine fireworks workshop, where small explosions were captured in videos shared online.
