Dozens of Democratic House candidates told Axios they won’t commit to supporting Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.) ahead of the 2026 elections. Of 113 surveyed, 25 said they would not or were unlikely to back him, while 57 remained undecided. Many cited frustration with party leadership and Jeffries’ cautious approach toward progressives. His office dismissed the concerns, saying he’s focused on fighting GOP policies and Donald Trump.
