Former Ilhan Omar Associate Pleads Guilty in $2.9 Million Fraud Scheme

Guhaad Hashi Said, a former associate of Rep. Ilhan Omar, pleaded guilty to defrauding a federal child nutrition program during COVID-19, stealing about $2.9 million through a fake nonprofit. Said faces up to 25 years in prison.

While Omar is not implicated, the case adds to controversies around her political network. Other defendants in the Feeding Our Future scandal have also faced charges, and some politicians have returned related campaign contributions.

The investigation highlights widespread fraud in Minnesota’s pandemic-era safety net programs.
