Tension and Secrets Behind the Scenes of Star Trek: Seven of Nine

The introduction of Seven of Nine, portrayed by Jeri Ryan, caused significant on-set tensions. Kate Mulgrew, who played Captain Janeway, reportedly refused to sit near Ryan during a table read, leading to friction. Other cast members, like Robert Picardo and Garrett Wang, also expressed dissatisfaction with how Seven’s storyline overshadowed theirs.

Ryan also faced physical challenges due to her tight-fitting Borg costume, which required her to be sewn into it for each scene, making simple tasks like bathroom breaks difficult. She coined the term “Code Jeri-Twenty” for these situations and endured chronic pain from the restrictive outfit, eventually burning the costume after the series ended.

Despite these challenges, Ryan’s portrayal of Seven of Nine became iconic, adding depth and complexity to the series.
