Not all skin spots are dangerous, but some can be deadly if not caught early—especially melanoma. Experts stress the importance of knowing your skin and watching for changes in size, shape, color, or texture.

The three main types of skin cancer are:

Basal Cell Carcinoma (BCC): Often appears as a shiny lump or scaly patch, usually on sun-exposed areas. Grows slowly but needs medical attention.

Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC): Red, crusty, or fast-growing lumps that may bleed. Can spread if left untreated.

Melanoma: The most serious type. Look for new or changing moles with irregular borders and multiple colors.

If you notice any unusual skin changes or non-healing sores, see your doctor promptly. Early detection can save lives.
