Obaut Bob Edwards

Born in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1947, Edwards began his radio career in Indiana before joining NPR in 1974. He initially co-hosted All Things Considered with Susan Stamberg. In 1979, he became the founding host of Morning Edition, a role he held for nearly 25 years. His signature baritone voice became a morning staple for millions of listeners nationwide.​

Edwards was renowned for his thoughtful interviews and memorable segments, including his weekly conversations with sportscaster Red Barber. His work earned him numerous accolades, including a Peabody Award in 1999.​
