Teenager Brooklyn Horan and 35-year-old Tyson Jemmett tragically died in a crash at the Arcadia Road Rallysprint in Paparoa when their car went off the road into a flooded river. Horan, a junior driver in Motorsport New Zealand, was driving.
MotorSport New Zealand is investigating, noting the road appeared safe. Tributes from rally champion Hayden Paddon and teams like Winger Motorsport poured in. A fundraiser has been set up for Horan’s wife, who is expecting their first child.
