STAR TRAGEDY. The most beloved actress dies after tragic ‘unexpected accident’ near her home. When you find out who she is, you will cry

Anne Whitfield, best known for playing Susan Waverly in White Christmas (1954), tragically died at 85 in an “unexpected accident” while walking near her home in Washington, D.C. She passed away on February 15 at Valley Memorial Hospital in Yakima, Washington, surrounded by family.

Whitfield’s family described her life as beautiful, dedicated to uplifting others. She enjoyed watching White Christmas with her loved ones during its 70th anniversary. After leaving Hollywood in the 1970s, she became an environmental activist and community organizer, always prioritizing her three children and seven grandchildren.

A memorial will be held on March 22, and donations or tree plantings are encouraged in her honor. Born on August 27, 1938, in Oxford, Mississippi, Whitfield began acting in childhood, eventually landing her iconic role in White Christmas at 15. She continued acting in TV shows and movies, with her final role in Robert Altman’s Cookies’ Fortune (1999).
