Woman Transforms Boeing 747 Into Fully Functional Home
Jo Ann Ussery built a unique home by converting a retired Boeing 727 into a luxury house after her home was destroyed in 1993. With limited funds, she was unable to afford a traditional home for her family, but after a suggestion from her air traffic controller in-law, she bought the Boeing 727 for just $2,000. Named “Little Trump,” she spent under $30,000 (around $60,000 today) on renovations, turning the 1,500-square-foot plane into a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home with a kitchen, laundry room, and even a soaking tub in the cockpit. Ussery completed the work herself, living in the plane until 1999 when she turned it into a museum. Unfortunately, it was destroyed during transport.
