Addiction is often associated with substances like drugs or alcohol, but it can also manifest in unexpected ways. Tristan Weigelt, a 26-year-old tattoo apprentice, is an example of this, having covered 95% of his body in tattoos over five years.
Starting with no tattoos in 2017, Tristan’s transformation is striking. Despite the pain—especially from sensitive areas like his face and head—he has no regrets, seeing his tattoos as a form of self-expression and art rather than a symbolic journey. He’s spent around $50,000 on tattoos, none of which have specific meanings; instead, he values their aesthetic appeal. Tristan encourages others to choose tattoos based on personal preference, saying, “If you like it – then get it.”
