‘Horrifyingly goofy’ creature washes onto Southern California beach
A terrifying sea creature recently washed ashore in Dana Point, California, and its unsettling appearance quickly went viral on Reddit. The bloated, bleached animal was identified by many as a dead moray eel. Tim Daly from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife confirmed this, noting it was common for moray eels to inhabit Southern California’s shallow reefs. While not poisonous or particularly aggressive, moray eels can bite if threatened, using their sharp teeth to latch on.
