Powered by his lifelong legacy as an entertainer and animal activist, this icon is still going strong at 99

In 1972, Bob Barker became a household name as the host of “The Price is Right,” a role he held for 35 years. Known for his charm and animal rights advocacy, Barker was born on a South Dakota reservation and was a member of the Sioux Tribe.

He met his wife, Dorothy Jo Gideon, at an Ella Fitzgerald concert, marrying in 1945. After her death in 1981, he didn’t remarry but has had a 40-year partnership with Nancy Burnet, who supports his vegetarian lifestyle.

Beyond TV, Barker is a dedicated animal rights advocate, famously urging viewers to spay or neuter pets. Through his DJ&T Foundation, he has donated millions to animal welfare causes. Barker’s nearly century-long life has made a lasting impact on both television and activism.
