It was a setup for a switch,” in response to billionaire David Sacks, who criticized CNN commentators for their lack of loyalty to Biden.
Before the debate, Trump expressed cautious respect for Biden’s debating skills, recalling Biden’s strong performance against Paul Ryan. CNN commentator Van Jones warned that a poor debate performance could jeopardize Biden’s presidency, emphasizing that handling Trump in a debate is a significant challenge.
Following the debate, Biden retreated to Camp David with family to discuss his reelection strategy amid concerns from some Democrats about his viability against Trump. While party leaders publicly support Biden, private doubts about his chances persist. Ultimately, Biden’s family encouraged him to stay in the race.
