When the football team at Monroe High School knelt during the anthem, it drew a strong reaction from referees Ernie and Anthony Lunardelli. Ernie, particularly upset, felt compelled to act against what he saw as a dishonor to the country.

He expressed his frustration, stating, “I’m opposed to anyone disrespecting our country, flag, or armed forces. The anthem should honor these symbols, not serve as a protest platform.” Ernie’s protest aimed at anyone who disrespects the anthem, regardless of their background.
